Important
Actual speeds on FTTB/C/N connections will be confirmed post activation. If your line does not support your chosen speed tier, we will inform you and offer to change your speed tier and provide a refund or terminate your service without penalties.
The nbn speed reflects the maximum wholesale network speeds during off-peak times. The "typical busy period speeds" for nbn are not an indication of actual speeds experienced by customers in their premises, which may be lower. Not all customers will achieve these speeds.
Speed
The typical busy period speeds for the new nbn tiers—HFC Superfast and Ultrafast, FTTP Superfast, Superfast II, and Ultrafast—are only estimates. We currently lack enough data to calculate these speeds accurately. Actual speeds may be lower due to factors such as in-home setup and wiring. For more detailed information on speeds, refer to the nbn key facts sheet
Service Availability
Services not available to all areas or premises and are subject to a service qualification (SQ).
Installation
Standard installation includes self-installation of your modem. Additional charges may apply for non-standard installation of Commander and NBN Co equipment, as well as for premises in new developments.
nbn® New Development Charge
If you're in a new development without existing phone or internet infrastructure, nbn co may apply a $300 New Development Charge (NDC) to connect you to the nbn network. This charge applies to new lots, subdivisions, and granny flats with a separate address from the primary residence. Additional charges may apply for non-standard or professional installation of Commander or nbn co equipment, as well as for premises in new developments. Once connected to the nbn fibre network, you will not be able to switch to our copper network.
4G Backup
Mobile backup is available for premises within Optus 4G coverage areas. You can check coverage at commander.com.au/support/mobiles/mobile-coverage. If there's an issue with the nbn, our Business Modem will automatically switch your service to the 4G mobile network. Once the fault is resolved, we'll restore your service to the nbn. 4G Backup speeds are up to 12/1 Mbps. Coverage may not be available in all areas.

Priority Network Support (PNS) is a service you can add to any of our nbn® business plans. It is a service that is only available to businesses and provides a dedicated onboarding experience and set restoration target times if you experience a fault on any of our business Internet plans. This service is highly recommended for businesses that can’t afford to be offline. So, if your business has critical data needs and requires a high level of support in the event that an issue arises, you should consider adding the PNS service.
We offer a few different versions of PNS, services without PNS have a restoration target of the next business day. So for example if a customer experiences a fault, and calls Commander Friday afternoon, Commander troubleshoots to find the cause of the issue and finds it is at a nbn® network level. Commander reports the fault to nbn® at 6pm same day, see the difference of a service with and without PNS. Services with PNS get restored within the 8 or 12 hour timeframe.
